OrbStack stops with StorageFull when finder says 240GB free #2691

Description

@mrmachine

Describe the bug

OrbStack just died with a "Storage Full" error. Codex said I had 119MB free but Finder says 240GB free. Daisy Disk says 240GB free + purgeable.

I suspect most of it is local Time Machine snapshots. But my understanding is that these will be auto deleted by macOS when needed.

But something about the way OrbStack runs and manages its disk is not triggering macOS to realise that storage is required and therefore not triggering macOS to free some of its purgeable space before halting with its "Storage Full" error.

To Reproduce

  1. Run OrbStack
  2. Fill up disk with local Time Machine snapshots
  3. OrbStack stops with "Storage Full" error even though Finder reports much "free" space

Expected behavior

OrbStack should behave in a way that allows macOS to detect that it needs to free up some purgeable storage (e.g. local Time Machine snapshots).
