Are you curious about Class CrunchLabs? Whether you are ready to implement, or just starting to explore new science curricula, this four-part series, scheduled on February 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2027, offers a guided introduction to how high-quality instructional materials, like Class CrunchLabs, can support meaningful shifts in science teaching and learning.
This web seminar offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of how high-quality instructional materials can support science learning for all students, deepen student understanding, and support teachers with implementation.
Participants will explore how Class Crunchlabs is designed to support the shifts in science teaching and learning described in A Framework for K-12 Science Education. Each session builds on the previous one, deepening participants’ understanding of student sensemaking and phenomenon-based three-dimensional teaching and learning, while exploring how Class CrunchLab is designed to support these essential aspects of science instruction. Participants will learn through:
- immersions in high-quality instructional materials,
- analysis of classroom videos and vignettes, and
- examinations and guided reflection of instructional materials.
This series will end with implementation stories from real classrooms and districts and guidance on planning your next steps with Class CrunchLabs.
Learning Targets:
By the end of this web seminar series, participants will be able to answer these questions:
- How are HQIM different from traditional science materials? Understand the key instructional shifts that are intentionally built into the curriculum.
- How do students navigate their learning? See how a focus on explaining phenomena creates a need for students to move through a unit.
- How are all students supported? Discover embedded teacher supports and strategies for instruction that support all students.
- What do HQIM look like in practice? Examine what successful implementation of Class CrunchLabs looks like and feels like for students and teachers.
Who Should Attend:
- Science and STEM educators
- Instructional coaches and science leads
- District and school leaders
- Curriculum adoption committees
Program Dates and Times:
The four live web seminars are scheduled on Wednesdays, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Eastern time. Specific program dates are below:
