r/Baking 规则

No Self Promotion or Other Promotion

r/baking is a community-driven space, not a platform for advertising, marketing, surveys, traffic generation, or fundraisers (e.g., GoFundMe). Accounts that primarily use r/baking (and Reddit) to promote external websites, businesses, or causes may have posts removed. YouTube videos may be shared once per week, but channel/profile links are not allowed. See Reddit Self-Promotion Guidelines.

No links to restricted or gated platforms (pinterest, instagram, facebook, tiktok, etc)

Posts or comments linking to restricted or gated platforms are not allowed. This includes sites that require login, account creation, app installation, or external sign-in to view content (such as Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or similar platforms). r/baking prioritizes content that can be viewed freely by all users. Gift links that provide free access without login (e.g., NYT Cooking or America's Test Kitchen gift links) are typically allowed.

No memes

No memes. r/baking focuses on baking projects, techniques, and related discussion. Meme-style posts are outside the subreddit’s content scope and may be removed.

No glorifying, praising, or promoting stand mixers (kitchen-aid or others)

Items made with stand mixers are allowed. However, posts that primarily showcase or glorify stand mixers or other kitchen equipment are not permitted. Discussion about how to use, maintain, or compare equipment is welcome, but posts centered on the appliance itself may be removed.

No tshirt, mug, dropshipping, etc spam.

from r/modguide thread: "The flow of t-shirt spam (and other astroturfing-type spam) goes like this: Scammer will post an image to a sub that they have stolen from a popular post or social media site. Or they will simply proceed to step 2 on a popular image post, steal that image and place it on a shirt and post a link inside the thread. Then a second account will comment asking if anyone knows where to buy this on a shirt. A third account will post a link. "

No asking for recipes in a Showcase (No Recipe) flaired post

Posts flaired Showcase (No Recipe) are meant for inspiration or sharing bakes just for fun. Asking the OP for a recipe in these posts is not allowed and those comments will be removed. This helps keep the community welcoming and prevents pile-ons when OPs choose not to share a recipe. Recipes are optional on r/baking and only required when a post uses the Recipe flair. Repeated rule violations may lead to temporary loss of commenting privileges.

Reddit TOS or reddiquette

Posts/comments violating Reddit terms of service and/or reddiquette will be removed.

No asking for DMs

Asking users to move conversations to direct messages (DMs or private messages) is not permitted.

r/baking encourages information to remain public and accessible within the thread so everyone can benefit from the discussion.

Comments such as “DM me for the recipe” or requests to continue the conversation privately may be removed. Requests to move conversations to DMs are also commonly associated with scams or off-platform transactions and are not allowed.

No AI Content

Images shared here must show real baked goods. AI-generated images aren’t allowed. AI recipes can be discussed or shared if clearly disclosed as AI-generated, but images posted to the subreddit must still show a real bake. If you link to an AI recipe site, disclose that it’s AI-generated and don’t use AI images to drive traffic to it. If you suspect AI content, report it or message the mods instead of accusing the poster. This rule also prevents undisclosed AI content promotion.

No Harassment / Civility

Harassment, bullying, or targeting other users is not allowed.

This includes personal attacks, insults, intimidation, or encouraging others to harass someone. Disagreements about baking, techniques, or recipes are fine, but they must remain civil and focused on the content rather than the person.

Comments or posts that cross into harassment may be removed, and repeat or severe violations may result in a ban.

Flair must conform with Flair Guidelines

All posts must use an appropriate flair that accurately reflects the content of the post.
Incorrect, misleading, or missing flair may result in removal.

Moderator Discretion

Moderators may remove content or take action when it undermines the integrity, safety, or intended purpose of the community, even if it does not fall neatly under a specific written rule. This rule exists to address edge cases, evolving behaviors, bad-faith participation, or loopholes not explicitly covered elsewhere. It serves as a safeguard to protect the overall health, standards, and culture of r/baking.

Content Must Be Baking-Related

Posts and comments must be directly related to baking. Content should focus on baked goods, techniques, ingredients, or baking discussion. Breads and other batter- or dough-based goods traditionally associated with baking are allowed, including items prepared in ovens, pans, or fried. Standalone confectioneries (e.g., caramels, fudges, puddings) are not allowed unless part of a baked item. See Posting Guidelines.
