From a person that spend around 5 years trying to get into the IBEW apprenticeship don’t treat this as your only option. The constant waiting game and hoops to jump through I know are frustrating so apply to different trades or different types blue collar jobs in general don’t be like me waste your time just focusing on this
Hello! I am a 1st year inside
So I have only been on jobsites where there are 6-7 10s that are being worked. But when you go there your referral says the 5 8s
I LOVE working the OT and making good money. Lord knows as a first year we can barely make it through with the checks lol
But why when we don’t work a Saturday, or stay the 2 hours after work due to other plans or to just have a break is it the end of the world?
I’ve had the stew scream in my face for wanting to take an 8 one Friday and not work the Saturday because I had plans.
I have a waitressing job on the side to help with money since the first few years are hard- and I’m usually working 7 days a week between the two, so I do need a weekend off here or there or a night off to reset, take care of my home, study for class and do my homework. But why is it so frowned upon to not have a good work life balance?
