ANOTHERWlKlPEDlAN wɑit thɑt’s ɑ typo 00:44, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

ANOTHERWlKlPEDlAN, I am not sure what is the benefit. It saves you 5 characters, but makes code less readable as you need to figure out what that template is doing and adds a lot of internal complication to very simple code. Also creates another template that need to be protected, because it is used on the main page. --Jarekt (talk) 01:49, 24 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jarekt: Oh. Please decline and archive this edit request if that’s the case.

Also creates another template that need to be protected, because it is used on the main page it seems to already be protected. I am not sure what is the benefit same here. Prototyperspective (talk) 13:58, 24 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit request 22 May 2026

{{Edit request}} In the "Participating" box, I think the "and more!" text should be after the "Discussion" section. Looking at the code, it appears the "and more!" text was placed in the "Creating" section, instead of the "Explore" section. So, I want to suggest the edit below:

;and more! |Explore= :To explore more ways you can contribute to this project, check out the [[Commons:Community portal|Community Portal]].

What's going on with the picture of the day?

Is the caption a mix-up of two different things? It reads:

"A 1981 Ribbon schematic of the 3D structure of the protein triose phosphate isomerase by Jane Richardson.

Today is voice actress Tajja Isen's birthday. She voiced Betty Barrett aka the titular hero in the 2004 Canadian animated series Atomic Betty."

I don't see how those sentences are connected. From reading neither Isen nor the series Atomic Betty seems to have anything to do with protein structure. Blythwood (talk) 14:42, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I found this odd as well. Looking into it, the caption was created by User:SpinnerLaserzthe2nd on 1 January 2025 for en, then fr and it. Of the other translations, some included the mention of Isen (cs, eu, and zh) but more missed it out (de, es, hu, mk, nl, and pt). Editors tried to remove the mention of Isen from fr and it while the captions were live yesterday, but SpinnerLaserzthe2nd reverted both of these, saying "
C'est une traduction
" when reverting the French caption change. Captions do sometimes say "Today is ..." after describing the image, but this always seems to be to explain the choice of image (e.g. a photo of St. Boniface's church with a caption that says "Today is the feast of St. Boniface."). Maybe SpinnerLaserzthe2nd could explain why it was included? ‑‑YodinT 10:43, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I tried to find a picture of an atom but most images are not featured pictures. I had to use an image of a protein instead to fit the show's sci fi theme. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 10:46, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply; I noticed that you'd added some other voice actor related PotD captions (e.g. 15 December 2025 and 6 March 2026). I don't know what other editors think, but it can look like there's been a mistake when the image is so tangential to the person it's supposed to be connected to (I notice that these mentions are often removed during the translation process, which seems to show that they're also confused about why these people are being mentioned). ‑‑YodinT 11:06, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the late reply but I noticed a 2023 PotD had a pic of a lemur and it is to celebrate the actor who voiced the lemur character from Madagascar. This shows that any random images does fit as the subject of the image relates to their role. This was added because users on Commons might know who the guy is and what is his well known roles. For the first one, Haruna Ikezawa voiced a girl who owns the hamster and the second one is that Kaede Hondo voiced a girl that her surname means “four-leaf clover” and her role is well known. The reason for this is that most voice actor images are not featured images or in the case where there is a official profile picture, the actors might not release their official images for free. If we do upload their official images, these uploads could be marked as a copyvio. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 22:14, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

POTD caption error

The word trumpet in the caption should not be capitalized. - Bri (talk) 20:37, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Media of the day: Fomalhaut B

This decision for todays Media of the day probably was done some years ago, but today this hubblecast looks rather outdated when camparing to the current Wikipedia pages of this ‚planet‘. Under these circumstances the MOTD at least should be marked as ‚not up to date‘ or ‚historic‘. —PtrQs (talk) 13:12, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
