StateRestore 2

StateRestore 2.0 is here! This extension adds state management controls to DataTables, with an easy-to-use UI for the end user, letting them select between different table states with a simple button click. StateRestore is the third library released in the DataTables Plus suite - a premium set of extensions that enhance the capabilities of DataTables.

As always, an example is worth a thousand words. In the example below stateCreate and statesTable are used to create the buttons for the state management UI, with StateRestore in its default configuration:

DataTables 3 release

Tagging up a major software release and making it available for download is, at the same time, a massive release of pent up energy, but also very stressful. That's where I am today - utterly delighted to release the cumulation of nine months of work on DataTables, its extensions and web-site to you all, while also apprehensive about how smoothly the release will go and how it will be received.

I'm sure every software engineer knows this mix of feelings on release day, and today it is my turn as DataTables 3.0.0 is now available! DataTables 3 marks a significant step forward for DataTables:

  • It has no dependencies (no jQuery requirement any more)
  • Core and all the extensions are now Typescript
  • Modernisation of the DataTables internals
  • DataTables Plus launches today (more on that shortly).

DataTables 3 promoted to nightly

It has been a month since the initial beta release of DataTables 3, and it has been well received so far. Many thanks to everyone who has installed, used and provided feedback for the software. Version 3 is a huge step forwards for DataTables, so I'm very much looking forward to it's general release.

As a step along that path, DataTables 3 has now been promoted to the master branch, which means that they are now the nightly builds.

The extensions have also been promoted, and the plugins updated for DataTables 3.
