Category:Pitch-accent language

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pitch-accent language uses distinctive pitch patterns (high/low or rising/falling) on specific syllables in a word, set by a single accent peak, to distinguish words or forms. This differs from tonal languages, which use pitch on individual syllables to alter lexical meaning.
