On 10 December 2025, Thales received the "Best Open Source Strategy" award at the Open Source Experience trade show, presented by the CNLL (Conseil National du Logiciel Libre). It rewards five years of work by the Group's Technical Directorate: a structured transformation, mature internal processes, real impact in the Open Source community, and the commitment of teams across the company.

Thales is a committed member of the RISC-V ecosystem, contributing to an open, royalty-free processor architecture that strengthens Europe's technological sovereignty in critical embedded systems — aerospace, space, automotive, rail, security, and defence. Our teams work on projects such as the CORE-V CVA6 processor developed by the OpenHW Group.

Every Thales Open Source publication (sharing an internal asset) or contribution (fixing/improving an external project) goes through the same lightweight, structured process, reviewed by:
- a manager, to check alignment with business interests;
- a technical expert, to review code and architecture;
- the Software Compliance team, to manage IP, licensing and export-control risk, and validate the license choice.
Once approved, the project is published here — the single entry point for all Thales Open Source assets.
We publish and maintain projects across cybersecurity, cryptography, cloud-native infrastructure, embedded/hardware, and software architecture tooling.
