The HTC Dream (also known as T-Mobile G1 in the United States and some of European countries and Era G1 in Poland) is an Android smartphone co-developed by Google and HTC. It was announced on 23 September 2008.[1] It was released on 20 October 2008 in the United States.[2] It became the first smartphone to run with an Android operating system.[3] The Federal Communications Commission approved the phone, and it was released on November 10.[4][5] In March 2012, HTC unlocked the bootloader on HTC Dream.[6]
Hardware
[change | change source]The HTC Dream has a 3.2 inch TFT screen, 192MB RAM, 3.15MP AF back camera, 1150mAh battery capacity, Qualcomm MSM7201A chipset and Adreno 130 GPU.[7] It has a QWERTY keyboard.
Software
[change | change source]It used Android 1.0 when it was launched. The software could upgrade to newer versions like Android 1.1 (Petit Four), Android 1.5 Cupcake, and Android 1.6 Donut.
Reviews
[change | change source]PhoneArena reviewed the HTC Dream. It had good reviews for its good battery life, customizable options, and working touchscreen. However, it also got bad reviews because it had no video player, camcorder or stereo Bluetooth. The reviews rating is 8.5/10.[8]
