A Piece of the "Where's the Body" Puzzle
A Piece of the "Where's the Body" Puzzle
bones/fossils/bodies

I was able to sit down and watch the excellent Netflix documentary "Secret Lives of Neanderthals" about some of the ongoing research that is going into Neanderthal culture. In particular their funerary practices, and something came to mind that may apply, not only to Sasquatch, but all of the world's mystery Bigfoot type creatures.

Meldrum was the latest to argue that Bigfoot may be a relic Hominin, something Neanderthal-esque. So, it is fair to apply some of their possible cultural attributes to Sasquatch. "Secret" put forth, based on research done in both Kurdistan and Croatia, that Neanderthals not only buried their dead, but did so with styles that were unique to their region. For example, those in near Shanidar Cave in Kurdistan had been burying their dead for thousands of years in the cave, using branches to protect the bodies from predators and rocks layered on top of them. In Croatia, there is evidence that the population there participated in ritualistic cannibalism. So, why bring this up?

The #1, age old complaint of the skeptic; "SHOW ME THE BODY." This may be a moot point if Sasquatch has developed a culture similar to those of our other ancestors. Bodies, or even body parts may be located in a shallow grave in an unknown cave. They may have been eaten by their clansmen and their bones kept as trinkets. Or, buried in a million unique ways that are just as unique to where they are found. Now, this doesn't solve every piece of the puzzle. Archeologists can still find graves of prehistoric humans. We find megafauna bones all the time. I can't explain all of it. But this idea of Bigfoot having cultural practices around their dead may explain at least part of the reason we haven't stumbled across a foot yet.

Just some thoughts!
