Conduct - General

Be excellent to each other and visitors from other team's subreddits. Disagreements will naturally occur, but disrespecting other redditors (for example, name-calling or personal attacks) in the course of argument will not be tolerated.

Conduct - Other Subreddits

Don't troll other subreddits. Represent Birdland with class. This is a zero-tolerance policy. If you troll elsewhere and their mods contact us, you will be banned here. Similarly, report incoming trolls to the mods, do not engage.

Respectful, constructive chatter outside the heat of a game thread is allowed (use your best judgment), but saying "I come in peace" does not shield you from this policy if you are being provocative. Treat other teams' "home" as you'd want ours treated.

Conduct - Game Thread

Game Threads are for enjoying the game together. It's okay to vent, but if you only post to complain, if 90% of your comments are negative, or you only post "hot takes," you will be warned, then banned.

No one cares about your sports bets. Do not complain here because the O's or one of their players messed up your wager.

Finally, calling for injury to any player is not allowed.

Quality / Effort

Posts should encourage quality discussion. The following will be removed, with a request to re-post as a comment in one of the Daily Threads:

Low-effort memes, AI-generated content
Check-ins (exception: one thread per road series is allowed to coordinate meet-ups)
Posts about common merch (jerseys, hats, baseball cards)
Tickets / parking questions
Questions about how to watch a game
"What to do in Baltimore" posts

The following are examples of posts that will be removed:

Content not relevant to O's baseball
Reposts - please check if a link or piece of news has already been posted before you submit.
Posts without a descriptive title
Advertising / spam

Submitting Articles / Social Media

When posting or sharing information from an article, you must include a link in the submission.

Articles behind a paywall may be summarized with a short excerpt. Please add the Article-Paywall flair.

Links to social media platforms requiring logins or external app redirects (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram) are not permitted. Screenshots of posts from legitimate baseball sources are allowed. Submitting a fake screenshot will result in a ban. Please provide alternative sources when available.

Advertising / Self Promotion

Advertising or self-promotion includes sharing content or products originally created for another site. While we encourage original content, please follow these basic principles:

Self-promotion is allowed only with explicit, prior approval from moderators.
Follow Reddit's site-wide guidelines on self-promotion and the "Am I a spammer?" guide from Reddit for guidance on self-promotion
Check with the moderators if you're unsure your content qualifies as advertising or self-promotion

Do not ask for Illegal Streams. Do not link to Illegal Streams. Do not discuss Illegal Streams.

This is a frequently asked question that has been frequently answered. Currently, you can watch Orioles games through MASN, DirectTV, fubo, and MLB.tv. You can find official information on watching the Orioles at orioles.com or mlb.com. You can also search the subreddit for previous posts, or Google different ways.

Legal streams can always be discussed in the Daily Threads or Game Threads.

Ticket Selling / Giveaways

In general, r/orioles does not allow selling or requesting tickets. There are rare situations (such as playoffs) where the mods will create a sanctioned method for trusted users to exchange information.

Offering Free tickets is allowed, but only as a comment in our Daily Threads. Once successful, please edit your comment to announce if the tickets are claimed.
