Another one that got me is that the standard Texas apartment rental agreement requires 60 days notice if you are not going to renew. I don’t have the legalese in front of me rn. But I was used to northeastern states where it is usually 30 days. Because of that I had to switch to a month to month lease for an additional month to fulfill the 60 days notice requirement. And as you may have guessed the month to month rate at that complex was significantly more expensive than the normal rate.
My fault naturally but with all the frenzy of moving I overlooked that small but important line in the contract.
