I’m very upset right now. I had to delay my graduation for a whole year because I couldn’t find a job. That year has gone by now and I’m a PhD chemist with no job for over a month. I have sent out maybe a thousand applications at this point. Nothing. I can’t compete with people who already have experience.

One of the opportunities I made the mistake of getting my hopes up for gave me the finger basically. They told me they wanted my availability so they could schedule an interview with the team (I passed the recruiter and the hiring manager) and I was told they were very excited to hear from me. I spent hours prepping for this interview only to get ghosted. I call my recruiter only to find out that they went with some internal hire from another building after their respective panel interview. They didn’t even give me a chance to make my case to the team. That’s all, I’m so mad right now, there is nothing I could I have done.
