CPCS, we would only send people on npors if we needed someone to use a machine on a specific site.
You will be in the machine full time if you get to that position, UK earthworks is pretty efficient, and hard to get to that level. It's easy to learn the controls, it's hard to do the finishing, be it grading or site prep.
It will be hard to go straight into employment with no experience, you may have to go agency pay for your own tickets, and start with loading out from a stockpile. People often start with labouring in civils to learn how it all works but most other operators probably won't train you, so you just need to stick around until someone needs a spare operator & chucks you in a machine.
