I tried sns while starting iceborne (not very far in, just killed the barioth) and while I’m enjoying it when playing with a friend I feel like I’m playing it wrong, like either I get a basic y combo off for kinda shit damage every so often or I try to use the mount attacks or perfect rush and either whiff horrendously or get punished because of end lag, like am I supposed to be mixing up combos or just standing inside the enemy pressing y for half an hour. I feel my damage output is fine enough when playing with a friend but I tried hunting a master rank 2 rathian and it took me 40 minutes with the lumu nightmare 1. Is it just growing pains or am I not using basic combos enough

I’m new to the game and I’ve been told that bow is not a good starting weapon due to the stuff it needs to be good, which you can only get in endgame. So I thought I should switch what I use. Which of these should I use as a first time player, I’ve been most interested in these: dual swords, insect glaive, and long sword.
