I just made a new account on Reddit because I didn't like my old account name and wanted to actually get into posting. I didn't see any progress last night, like 2 karma, but I had a hit post today, and it felt so nice to see people engaged with what I posted. Am I on the right track?
I really want to maximize the use of my account 😢
I’ve had this account for over 2 years but I only ever lurked. Now I actually want to start posting and commenting in some subs but everything gets auto-removed instantly because I have almost zero karma.
I’ve started commenting more but it feels like such a slow grind. Has anyone else been in this exact spot with an old dormant account?
How long did it actually take you to get to the point where you could post normally without everything getting nuked? Any actual tips that worked for you?
Thanks, feeling dumb for waiting this long lol

This is not the correct place for venting, rants, complaints, inflammatory or loaded questions, debate, user polls, speculation, or suggestions for Reddit

This list is subject to change
Remember we’re not Reddit employees, nor mediators, or a complaints department, & can’t help with suspensions, change the site, or change how other communities are run
This gives everyone a fair chance to ask their question without it getting pushed down the page by someone with multiple questions.

We strive to be a welcoming, helpful, & understanding community
All replies to a post (parent comments) should be a genuine attempt to help the poster

We value answers from your own experience, in your own words, tailored for OP, and the more welcoming, friendly, and authentic tone you will have over LLMs.
We thank helpers with user flair and will not award this to accounts sharing bot generated content or who are plagiarising.

Please keep posts on topic (about using Reddit) and check our rules and additional information below.
Questions or concerns about this community, or feedback for us, should be modmailed to the mods directly. Thank you.
We are not Reddit employees and we cannot help with suspensions (site wide bans). Your only recourse is to appeal to Reddit. Please see the bans section here.
We will remove posts about suspensions unless we feel the post or its answers will benefit the community.
If you think you are shadowbanned, you can appeal here
Visiting the appeal page also functions as a test to see if you are shadowbanned as you can only appeal there if you are shadowbanned or suspended. See shadowbans for more information. If it's not a shadowban, you might be running into community restrictions that look at account age and karma instead, learn more here.
